[SotP | February 2012]
Following the huge personal upheaval that was January, I've taken a fairly laid-back approach to February as I adjust to a new timezone, and am otherwise occupied with the real life activities of moving, visiting, and hunting for jobs in another part of the country so I can move yet again. In terms of what is relevant to TR, Eastern Time doesn't really agree with me thus far; it feels like I'm forever waiting for people to be around, and then, when they are, I promptly fall asleep, creating missed connection after missed connection. In short, I beg for patience while I try to build new habits.
ETA: This was written prior to details about Fear Plot being released, so there are additions and edits throughout.

PETER PARKER The Amazing Spider-Man DOB: 12 Aug Age: 30 Since 14 Apr 2009 ![]() |
General: So, Peter has been one loud motherfucker all month, but given the nature of this month's plot -- that is, Mary Jane's arrival -- I've been necessarily limited to private threads while that situation gets figured out. There are a lot components that still need fitting together, and I think I've got something like five threads not even linked yet that are all set within the first 24 hours of her debut, as well as one set for slightly before and one set for slightly after. In some ways, this is all the culmination of November's Red Riding Hood plot, which first dealt with a lot of the issues that Peter's going through now, particularly his conversation with Wolverine (that I am eager to bookend at Scott's earliest convenience). I really need to start using synonyms for the word 'complicated', since I think I've used it about fifty times this month, but it's really the best one for the job, and probably will be for the next little while 'til pieces start to fall into place. There are still a number of question marks. I will say, however, that from a purely player standpoint, it's been interesting, getting back into the swing of thinking of Peter as a romantic character, even if he hasn't done much in the way of romance yet (and probably won't for a bit, admittedly, starved as he is for intimacy). I'd never anticipated getting an MJ again, let alone 616!MJ, mostly due to the intimidating nature of the canon, so I'm sort of in the same boat as Pete in terms of incredulous gratefulness, because Di's doing a wonderful job. It's been a real trip, and I'm looking forward to seeing where they go from here. Fear Plot: Yes. I don't have too many concrete thoughts as to how I plan on tackling this, admittedly, but I do know Osborn will feature front and center. ETA: This probably won't be a fear plot thing, after all, given the one-character limit, but there are other ways to deal with Osborn, so I shall consider them. |

JAMIE MADROX X-Factor DOB: 07 Sep Age: 32 Since 06 Jul 2009 ![]() |
General: Still trucking. I hit a bit of a snag in writing out the proposal for the plot that I will execute if it kills me, but I'm confident I'll be able to work it out. At this point, I'm thinking it might need to coincide with April's Old West plot, but I also think that might work to my advantage rather than my detriment. In other news, X-Factor has been hitting it out of the park lately, and I'm very enthusiastic about the character again. One thing I've learned about myself over the years, is that I really require characters from open canons, because I rarely get around to rereading with any regularity. But when those open canons are failing to keep my interest, it's sort of hard to work up that interest IG, too. I doubt Jamie'll ever be my primary character again, but he's constant and steady, and I'm okay with that. It's just a matter of socializing him more, but I could say that about all my characters. He should also really tell someone about his engagement. He's not hiding it, it's just legitimately not come up yet. Maybe I'll EP him in March to that effect. Fear Plot: I almost think a quiet, strictly psychological fear might be more interesting to play out than something flashy, at least in terms of its ramifications. On the other hand, Jamie has a decent selection of terrifying shit to choose from should I want to do something X-treme. I'll think on this one some more. ETA: Wolverine's killing the X-Men. I don't know if Jamie'll necessarily register for this, given that he's more of a fringe character, but it's something to consider! |

BUCKY BARNES Captain America DOB: 26 Mar Age: 86 Since 06 Oct 2010 ![]() |
General: Still needs a high-octane plot, which means I need to put on my thinking cap, or, conversely, brainstorm one evening so that I can nail down a structure. I don't really have an idea, just a hankering to write action scenes again. I said it last SotP, and I'll say it again: Bucky's time loop from last year is easily one of my favorite things I've ever written for TR. I want to write something on that scale again, and perhaps more importantly, I want to be the one to plan it just to disqualify some insecurities I've been having. Fear Plot: Probably not. I'd rather tackle Bucky's issues through alternative means. ETA: Confirmed no. |

MATT MURDOCK Daredevil DOB: 26 Nov Age: 34 Since 28 Mar 2011 ![]() |
General: Went on a date with Ellen Parsons! Exciting! Of course, my first instinct for when Matt has something nice is to destroy it, which means that it's time to get started on 2012: Year of Hell. There are things I want to do in the next couple of months, and I shall take care to detail them now. Fear Plot: A world of yes. Out of all of mine, Matt probably lends himself the best to this kind of plot, not least of all because he's the Man Without Fear, and I really want to play with his notion of perception, forcing him to question his sanity. Given that Matt is genuinely not afraid of people or events, making him think he's finally cracked after all these years has the potential of being incredibly upsetting. To reinforce the events of Fear Plot, however, I want to compliment this plot in a couple of ways, the first being... Home Plot: If you want in on this, let me know now, since it's going to immediately blow the roof on Matt's secret identity for all those involved. Though I want to time it for April, I want to get started on it as soon as possible, just so I know it's finished in time. He can take a maximum of four people and there will most certainly be ninjas involved. Logistically, I think bringing one or two people would probably be easier, but I'm holding off on considering structure 'til I know how many I have to contend for. This will be followed by an... Item: I haven't settled on this, though I just realized that the item I'd been considering last month (the one that would require someone get injured) could still work... Especially if Matt were the one getting injured. Given that this would be timed to after Home Plot, I'd shoot for late April, early May for this. And what's awesome is that I can follow it up with another item later in the year, since he'll be due for two come March 28th. |

THOR ODINSON Thor DOB: A Thursday Age: 1000+ Since 19 May 2011 ![]() |
General: Was hilariously offended by Valentine's Plot, for one, but for two, he met three new people this month, which was fun, and a trend I'd very much like to continue. That said, I'm kind of in a holding pattern 'til May, when The Avengers comes out (!!!!!!!), because I am desperately worried about getting Jossed in certain areas. I think I'll feel a lot more comfortable making character decisions without such a prominent thing looming over my head. In the meantime, however, I just want to get him out and about some more, and maybe come up with some more plot for the brothers and Jane, because that's always a fun dynamic to explore. Maybe another three-way thread next month, Anita and Abigail? Fear Plot: No, though I think he could certainly make himself useful on Halloween fighting off someone else's. ETA: This just occurred to me, but what if Thor were someone else's -- i.e. Loki's -- fear? He could confirm all the awful things Loki thinks Thor thinks, culminating in a battle royale on Halloween. Maybe they both end up in the clinic afterward and Thor can explain that he wasn't acting as himself, that he was being controlled? THOUGHTS? ETA 2: Jane will be opted into this plot, and her fear is the Destroyer, soooo he will definitely be making himself useful on Halloween fighting off someone else's fear. Home Plot: This also falls under that ETA, but going to Asgard is definitely something I want to do, and it'd be awesome if I could loosely adapt the plot for Avengers Prime to do it. Ideally, the four brought along would be Loki, Jane, Cap, and Tony for this one, because it's probably high time that we address that untapped BROT3 thing they've got going on, there's no way in hell I don't want to jump at the chance to send Jane to Asgard, and Loki, obviously, needs to see father dearest. So... Basically I have a lot of plans for the man without plans, though it's obviously all dependent on the interest and availability of others. |

CHARLES XAVIER X-Men: First Class DOB: 02 Mar Age: 30 Since 02 Jul 2011 ![]() |
General: Charles is someone I want to get more proactive about posting, particularly since he didn't get much play this month. (Though in his case, it was mostly because I was waiting for Mardi Gras, and know for sure that I intend on EPing him in early March.) The X-Mansion will be completed by the end of the month, and I'll be making a post about that in ![]() ![]() Fear Plot: Maybe? Some part of me thinks it might be fun to paralyze him on Halloween, but another part of me argues that that should be its own plot, and yet another part of me argues I should maybe never paralyze him completely, as it'd be fun to poke fun of the trend in the comics where he gets miraculously better every few years. I'm obviously of a few minds on this issue. ETA: Confirmed no, though the same 'Wolverine is killing X-Men, not sure if Charles'll register' statement holds. |

DAMIAN WAYNE Batman and Robin DOB: 13 Oct Age: 10 Since 28 Sep 2011 ![]() |
General: Got a lot of family time this month, which I appreciated, though he's definitely due for an EP soon. I'm glad that my instincts in regard to current canon were correct, however; it vindicated a few character choices. Other than that, there's honestly not much to report. I do want him to start killin' things, but that'll be covered in next month's EP. Fear Plot: I think, like, half the Bats are already dealing with their stuff, and I'm not sure if I want to over saturate the market or not. Damian's fears would undoubtedly feature the al Ghuls, though, if I did go down that route. ETA: Confirmed no. |
There is no future section this month, mostly because I'm still interested in the people I've been interested in, and I don't want to repeat myself ad nauseaum. Moreover, seven's a good number for me; even on a slow month, I can make reqs easily, so I want to make sure I'm truly ready for an 8th before diving in. I can state with some level of certainty, though, that it will be a girl I bring in next.
And, while I still have your attention, this is a blanket call for private threads of all shapes and sizes; if you are interested in something, hit me up!
