I pointedly crush the butt under my heel before I stride over to where he's standing, the damsel in distress still in his arms. It's only when I'm close enough that I realize just who exactly he's holding.
Now, in any other circumstance, I would've recognized Mary Jane in an instant. But with my vision on the fritz and my spidey-sense gone, it takes me a closer look to clue me into her identity. Eyes widening unseen behind my mask, I whisk her out of Cajun here’s arms and gently put her back on her feet, holding out my arms to steady her.
"Don't worry, miss. He won't be bothering you anymore," I say, shooting Gambit a look. Then, quietly so that only MJ can hear, I add, "Are you okay? What are you doing here?"
