Were I in my right mind, I might appreciate the irony of having my arm slung around Tony's shoulder just to keep myself upright as I stumble down the mountain, especially today. I am not, however, in my right mind, so for now, the irony's a bit lost on yours truly. Much like the past hour, actually. Were someone to ask me how the heck I ended up in the clinic when I could've sworn we were in the mansion about a second ago, I honestly wouldn't have an answer.

I'm sitting on the edge of my old bed in the clinic, wearing clothes I don't remember putting on -- wasn't I in the Vespa suit? There was a test, I was supposed to be testing the tech-sense today -- and holding a melting icepack to my aching head. Were it not for Tony still lingering around, it might just be a regular day in New York.

"Did we teleport?" I ask him, under my breath.

"What... happened?" Tony said, as if he didn't know what she was talking about. Or as if repeating the question would cause it to bend into a different, more easily addressed state.

It did not.

"He hit his head. We already covered that, it... caused the memory loss."

"I mean how he hit his head," Lexie clarifies, though she casts Tony a skeptical look, fairly certain that it's the sort of thing that ought to speak for itself. The way she sees it, either he's being deliberately oblivious or he's pretty bad at piecing together the obvious, for someone who's so smart. With anything more serious, she could blame distress, but amnesia or not, she doubts Peter's injury is the cause. "You know, what did it, how it was done — it must have been a pretty hard hit."

Peter was apparently going to be no help. He had the excuse of having amnesia and head trauma. So convenient.

Maybe he should have sent Peter with Pepper.

"More of a... medium to firm hit," Tony said. "Of... his head. Hit of his head, against... something else. High-tech laboratories, moving robot parts, you know how it is."

"Yeah, that... really tells me very little," Lexie says with an exhale of a laugh, mostly mirthless. The more they talk, the more she gets the sense that she isn't going to be told anything more than this, but that won't stop her from trying. She'd like to be able to write down something when she documents this. Turning to Tony, she casts him a skeptical look. "Weren't you with him? Did you not see what happened?"

"Dangerous but with safety protocols that in no way merit investigation," Tony said, over top of the two of them, out of pure instinct, before he registered there was another question asked while he was talking.

"I was... present," he said, "it may be that I was... looking in another direction? Obviously, he miscalculated, a piece of metal hit him in his head. Which does not merit investigation, entirely... his own mistake."
