This got really long for the meme, so I'm just gonna have it serve as a quasi-SotP. Anyway. I play a lot of sad bastards, but here is the rundown.
GIMME YOUR THREAD IDEAS.
Peter Parker: Has been on the Island for four years and is still recovering from the back-to-back losses of his wife and one of his closest friends. He's in hardcore denial mode, though, so mostly he comes across as slightly sharp and overly guarded, with a sarcastic sense of humour that doesn't always land. (It's his defense mechanism.) He's the reluctant owner of a huge Newfoundland dog that he doesn't know how to handle, but she's pretty mellow so things are okay. Though he has been canon punctured, he notably treats his secret identity as a secret and doesn't ever bring up the fact that he's anything more than an ex-high school teacher/freelance photographer/scientist at Stark Industries with strangers. He teaches a bunch of math and science courses at the Island School and he's a former Council member, but he's not super sociable unless he has to be. His bark's worse than his bite, but he works best off other strong personalities and people who can handle themselves.
Jamie Madrox: A man of many acquaintances, but few good friends. Will have been on the Island for four years come July. Used to be suicidal, but has mostly gotten over that. Got married to Layla Miller during a Thanksgiving celebration at Captain America's house. He teaches a weird group of classes at the Island School, and has carved out a niche for himself as a theatre guy on the Island, since it's the only profession available that still allows him to live out other lives. He'll be putting together a production of 12 Angry Men once I secure some time for it. He's also been on the IPD for years. Owns a Jack Russell terrier named Richards who is often with him. Has a giant tattoo on his face that he'll talk about, candidly, if asked. A bit of an odd duck who does well off other odd people.
Bucky Barnes: Lost the love of his life and a rash of close friends and allies over the past year, and has not been coping particularly well with that fact. Fortunately, he's the head of the ITF and teaches two insanely difficult courses at the Island School, so he has plenty of work to throw himself into. Bucky -- or James, as he'll introduce himself to anyone who is not a WWII vet -- is a battle-hardened, tough sonuvabitch who doesn't crack a smile much these days. He is, understandably, preoccupied with Rapture stuff this month. That said, despite an unhealthy amount of self-loathing due to a complicated past he doesn't like to talk about, he is, at heart, a Good Man. Owns a horse named Virginia that he loves a lot. Will have been on the Island for three years come October and does well off soldiers and people who understand soldiers.
Matt Murdock: Lost pretty much every Island-met friend and acquaintance save a handful last fall, but Matt's denial is strong so he's actually coping with the loss pretty well. He's been quietly involved with fellow lawyer Ellen Parsons for a while, and their relationship has recently taken a turn towards the serious. He teaches a handful of classes at the Island School, but is mostly notable for being one of the Island's few blind residents. He's a charming smart ass who kinda relishes in making people uncomfortable. Is secretly a ninja but doesn't ever bring it up. Just passed his second Islandversary and does well off smart people, zen people, flirts, lawyers, and criminals.
Thor Odinson: Lost his lady love and sometimes gets sad about that, but is mostly coping. Lives with an annoying little brother that he's extremely protective over; anyone who says an unkind word towards Loki can expect a shoulder colder than Jotunheim. Owns a big horse named Truls. He hunts a lot and has probably killed a lion's share of things down in Rapture, because he digs adventure and that's how he rolls. Enjoys drinking people under the table, not breaking flatware (he learned that lesson!), and the aforementioned adventures. Does well off people who'll ogle him, warriors, soldiers, scientists, children-- Pretty much anyone, he's mostly friendly despite his size.
Charles Xavier: Is actually pretty okay! Forgoing running for Council this election to focus on personal projects, for which he'll need test subjects, so if you've got a bored character who wants to be hooked up to some machines, have I got the guy for you! While he's quietly frustrated to be without his telepathy, even approaching two years without it, Charles tends to be a very calm and collected presence on the outside. He's cool, he's collected, he's a bit of an old fart. When he's not teaching at the Island School or dealing with patients, Charles enjoys a good drink, casual sex (ladies only), and chess. Does well off people who are open to talking about former abilities, ex-mutants, pretty ladies who are also interesting, and people who're looking for a mentor.
Damian Wayne: Lost a bunch of family over the past year, even if he's reluctant to identify half of them as family. He's a bit of a shit with enough abandonment issues to fill up an omnibus, and is extremely reluctant to trust anyone. He's a genius, reformed assassin who was trained to be the next Alexander the Great -- and he never, ever mentions that his dad is Batman. He's also an 11-year-old boy who loves -- LOVES -- animals, and could really use a responsible and well-adjusted adult to take him under their wing. Owns two giant dogs. Does well with people who can handle the fact that he's a little shit, people who don't mind being called stupid, kids his age, optimists, and animals.
Kate Bishop: Brand new to the Island and still adjusting. Has a job working at the Boutique and will probably look into taking some classes during the next school semester. Likes fashion, archery, purple, and fighting for a cause, and doesn't mind talking about the fact that she was a teenage superhero if it comes up in a conversation. Loyal, outgoing, doesn't take shit from no one, and a serious badass. Does well with anyone who can handle her attitude.
